New Braunfels Ranks High in Latest Census Estimates

The US Census Bureau has released new estimates for the population growth of American cities. For the time period of July 2010 to July 2014, New Braunfels is the 528th ranked city in the nation in total population.

Percentage-wise, New Braunfels ranks 12th in the nation for the July 2013-July 2014 time span and number six in Texas. Other Texas cities ranked in the Top 13 in the nation include San Marcos, Georgetown, Frisco, Conroe and McKinney. San Marcos ranked first in the state and nation for the third consecutive year despite New Braunfels logging five times the single family home starts in that time period. Apartments are counted in the yearly estimates between official decade counts. College population is not counted in the official census each decade.

Texas grew by 451,321 people between July 2013 and July 2014 and by 1.8 million since July 2010. New Braunfels added 8,667 residents between July 2010 and July 2014, a 15% gain or a 3.75% annual increase. That 15% gain in four years made New Braunfels the 10th fastest growing city in the state since 2010.
